Beach Wedding in Hawaii With the Help of Some Utah Wedding Vendors
Photography by~Hanne Ruhnau Photography
Somerlyn Flores & Cale Hensley met while both working at Home Depot. Somerlyn and is a front desk receptionist & Cale is a department supervisor. They enjoy hiking, watching movies & going to Barnes & Noble for their dates. Cale popped the question on Christmas Morning & they spent the next few months planning their perfect wedding. They were living in Utah while planning their big day but Somerlyn’s mom lives in Hawaii so they planned for a beautiful destination wedding on the beach in Hawaii.
They were married on June 14th on the beach in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Location for wedding~ Waialae Beach Park, Oahu, Hawaii
Location for reception~ Somerlyn’s parent’s backyard
What they remember most~How much fun it was and being happy that our family was able to be there to enjoy our wedding day with us.
What they would do differently~ Nothing. We loved our whole wedding. It was exactly how we wanted it.
Photographer~ Hanne Ruhnau was our photographer. She flew in to take our photos from another island. She was awesome. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We would recommend her to everyone. Her website is hanneruhnauphotography.com.
Flowers~ I’m not sure where my mom got our flowers. I do know that she had to go to two different shops to get my hairpiece and our leis.
Cake~ We didn’t do a big wedding cake but did a bunch of cupcakes instead. Cake-A-Licious from West Jordan made them and we ended up doing four different flavors: chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter or cream cheese frosting, raspberry cupcakes with lemon frosting and then apple spice cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. And yes, we would definitely tell our friends about them. Her website is cakealicious.net.
Caterer~ Our caterer is one of our friends who runs a bbq shack called Lantana Lucy’s BBQ on the weekends. We had had the bbq he makes before and we thought it would be fun to do a bbq for our reception. Everyone who came made sure to tell us the food was delicious. He has a website on facebook and his e-mail is lantanalucysbbq@gmail.com.
The Wedding Dress~I got my wedding dress from Modest Couture by Elizabeth. I actually went dress shopping a few times and couldn’t find what I was envisioning. I found Betsy at a wedding expo and I decided to have her make the dress I wanted. I told her I wanted off the shoulders, v-neck front and back with an almost tea length hemline. She picked out the fabric and lace and made the whole dress exactly as I wanted it. It was definitely my favorite part of all the planning for our wedding. Her website is modestcouturebyelizabeth.com.
Rings~Neil Lane ring for Somerlyn and a black titanium ring for Cale.
His Attire~ We actually decided to not do a formal tux since we wanted to do a beach wedding. We ended up getting a nice dress shirt and pants from Express.
Shoes~Definitely no shoes. We both wore flip-flops. Gold for Somerlyn and black for Cale.
Entertainment~ We had Somerlyn’s brother set up a pa system in the back and play music from Pandora.
Invitations~We had Tania Finn from myutahinvitations.com create our invites. We wanted something different and went with postcards. Tania was super helpful and was wonderful to work with. Plus she got our invites back to us really fast. We also are doing our thank-you postcards through her as well.
Honeymoon~ We went to Honolulu, Hawaii for our wedding and our honeymoon.
Congratulations Somerlyn & Cale. The Bride and Groom.com wishes you both lots of LOVE & happiness in your new life together. We wish you the very best in your move to Illinois to start your new life there. Thanks for letting us share your beautiful wedding to inspire other brides.
