Patti & Joe’s Spring Wedding at Gardner Village~Featured Utah Wedding

Photography by~Michael Lloyd Photography

Patti & Joe were married April 22, 2011 at Gardner Village in Murray, Utah.  This was a beautiful Spring Wedding.

Patti is a nurse & Joe is a Technician in the Air Force Reserves.  They met on Match.com when Joe’s friends in the Air Force decided to put his profile online.  When Joe started getting emails from Match he was perplexed and wondered why his computer wasn’t filtering his junk mail…then Patti’s picture popped up and he deleted it three times…finally he thought maybe there was a reason her picture kept popping up and so he started reading her profile.  He finally figured out what his friends had done and thought he would take a chance and he contacted Patti by winking at her online.  Patti thought he was very handsome so she winked back.  They started emailing each other.  Since Joe was out of the country for work  he couldn’t tell her where he was or when he would be home.  She was worried that he was locked up so she quit writing him for awhile but when he announced he was coming home, she really got nervous.  She did agree to go out with him but she wouldn’t ride in his truck and she followed him in his car to the restaurant.  She figured out that he wasn’t a convict after all and was in fact an amazing positive and loving and giving person.  After the date, she had about a 75 minute drive home and Joe about a 2 minute drive so he felt bad and offered to drive ahead of her to make sure she got home safely,  she was so impressed with his thoughtfulness that she decided to go on a second date!  From there they spent many, many hours on the phone  as their jobs wouldn’t allow them to get together as often as they would have liked.  She claims that she wanted to really get to know Joe and make sure they had things in common in addition to the physical attraction so she made him wait four dates before their first kiss!   They went on their first date on Nov 30th and were picking out rings by mid-December and engaged by February.

How did you get engaged?: “Joe and I ordered our rings and it took two months to get them so when the rings were finally due to arrive, Joe decided to tease me and tell me the rings were going to take another month to be completed.  He took me to dinner and would hardly say a word to me all night and just kept saying he was tired, I was so confused as to why he was behaving this way so I told him he could drop me off at my house and just keep on driving…when we got to the driveway, he pulled out the ring…just in time before I sent him home for some serious self-reflection”

Tell us more about your love story: “Joe and I had both been married before and we both felt that we were meant to meet at this time in our lives, we have so many things in common, three kids, we are one month and one day apart in age, we have had so many times crossed paths in our lives and probably never knew it, we were in the same places at the same time on several occasions and probably walked past each other, we are similar in personality and temperament, we graduated the same year, had the same school colors, both worked from an early age in our lives, both love to help people and our families are the most important thing for us in our lives.  We really believe we knew each other before, that we were prepared for each other and were meant to be together at this time in our lives.”

Do you have a song: They danced to Foreigner “As long as I live” at our wedding and walked down the isle to Rascal Flats “God Bless the Broken Road”

Honeymoon~Oahu, Hawaii

Wedding Colors~Blue, Grey, Yellow and Cream

Any big plans after the wedding? “Joe and I are so excited to spend the rest of our lives together traveling, buying a house, starting our own business someday and helping our families and watching our grandchildren grow.”

What Patti likes most about Joe~ “Joe is my strength.  He knows what I need, he understands my struggles and he takes care of me and loves me more than I have ever been loved in my life!”

What Joe likes most about Patti~ “He says I’m the whole package!”

Favorite memory from wedding day~ “That we got to share the most important days of our lives with our family and friends in a beautiful ceremony and setting and that it was a celebration of two lives coming together as one.”

Anything you would do differently: “I would start the wedding earlier so we had more time for the reception and dinner and of course the dancing.”

Photographer: Michael Lloyd Photography “He was the perfect photographer for us because he was able to capture our love story in pictures, he was patient, and was able to draw a smile out of Joe which for a military guy, is not easy!  He captured the best moments and our personalities.  I think my favorite pictures are from our bridals (also called groomals).”

Flowers: Shana Bence with Shana’s Wedding Flowers.  “Shana did an amazing job of capturing the ambiance of our wedding. She spent many hours asking questions, researching the right flowers and making sure she gave us exactly what we had pictured for my wedding!  The flowers were beautiful, they were exactly the colors and style I wanted!  Just the right touch!  And she was very reasonable and affordable! Not only did she bring the flowers that day but she stayed well into the evening and made sure when we switched from the ceremony to the dinner that all the flowers we were using for dual purposes where put in the right place.  We saved money by using the flowers for the wedding and the dinner/reception afterwards!  It was genius!  And she was meticulous and extremely helpful!  I would recommend her to anyone and I wouldn’t want anyone else doing my flowers!  She is talented and dedicated!!”

Hair & Make up: ” My daughters helped me with my hair and makeup and they did a wonderful job!!”

Wedding cake:Cake-A-Licious made my cake.  Tasha did an amazing job!!  I gave her a picture of the cake I wanted and she did exactly what the picture showed…it was a real show piece!!  I wanted a cake that was simple yet stylish.  My cake had three tiers, it had a large bow out of fondant.  It was covered in cream colored fondant and was very couture!!  It was a work of art!  And very affordable and delicious!  I would recommend Tasha to anyone!”

Who was your Caterer & tell us how you chose your menu?: “Gardner Village catered and did a fantastic job!  We had a menu to choose from and the food tasted home cooked and delicious!  We wanted our wedding to be a celebration so we choose to serve a full dinner and have dancing instead of a reception.  We invited our family and close friends only.  We had family come from Ohio and Florida.”

Where did you get your wedding dress & tell us a little about how you chose it: “I found my dress at The Perfect Dress in SLC.  It was exactly how I pictured it and Danielle at TPD helped me to pick it out!  I wanted a dress that was fitted, rouged and ruffled.  My dress is a mermaid style with rouging below the knees and beautiful layers of ruffles to the floor.  I found a lace bolero to make it a little more modest.  It has an antique and old fashioned look.  I went with a cream dress since this was my second wedding.  It was extremely affordable and I would recommend the Perfect Dress to anyone!  They take the time to listen and help you find a dress that you have always dreamed you would wear on the most important day of your life!”

Rings: “We bought our rings at Morgan Jewelers.  Andy Strong is our jeweler and I cannot say enough about how amazing Morgans’ was to us and how the service continues long after the sale!  Andy is not only our jeweler, he is our friend and I will never buy another piece of jewelry unless it’s from him!  He knew exactly the ring I wanted when I described it to him, it was the second ring he showed us.  I wanted to keep an antique theme and I love chunky look in jewelry.  My diamond is a princess cut surrounded by two halos of diamonds.  The band is three rows of diamonds and there are two other diamond covered bands on either side of that for the wedding bands.  There is no jewelry store to match Morgan’s in price and in service!!  I highly recommend Morgan’s, go anywhere else and you will not be as satisfied.”

Shoes: Zappos.com

Entertainment: Carl’s Complete Music.

Invitations: “AshLee Winterrose and Amber Lindsay who own and operate Two Penny Blue.com designed and printed my wedding invitations.  We were looking for an antique and old fashioned look and they captured that so perfectly!!”

Photo booth: Suzzi Williams of Smile Now Photobooths provided some delightful highlights of the evening including: a photobooth, a candy buffet, also Patti and Joe’s guest book/photo book. Patti loved how the guests could make comments next to their photos. She also was impressed with how well Suzzi matched the colors of the wedding with the various choices of candy.
Advice from the bride: “Find someone who you really trust to pay attention to the details and take as much help as you can get.  Be true to your own ideas and always keep cost in mind.  You can find amazing vendors who will give you a good deal”
