Blue demands many connotations and feelings, however it is widely accepted as a color that proves importance, strength, peace, and intelligence. These are all conveniently adjectives that I am sure we are all looking for in our partner, and our marriage.
Blue truly is the color of the moment. From the runways of Milan, to the skin of the Na’vi in Avatar, we can see that blue is creating a scene. One of the best things about this color is the range on the blue spectrum varies from navy to cyan, and all the fun colors in between. This means there is a blue for everyone.
One fun idea is to do shades of blue for your wedding colors. This even allows your bridesmaids to choose a shade of blue that looks best with their skin tone. You can find a great variety of dresses at places like MODEST COUTURE BY ELIZABETH, where you can even custom make the dress or the color! Since there are so many shades, Brides often complain about finding exact matches for their color across the board. While this may be possible to tackle, why not throw in a creative twist (and save yourself some stress) and let all shades of blue rein true throughout your wedding.
Another great thing about blue is that it can be used as a main color, as well as a highlighting color. Deep royals and navy blues are all wonderful colors to use to play up other colors, without being too matchy-matchy. Blues pair nicely with yellow, white, and even a nice orange or pink. A very popular combination is to pair any shade of blue with a nice warm brown.
Blue can help remind your guests of wonderful days filled with blue skies, no matter what the weather outside on your wedding day may say. It also is a gender-neutral color, no matter what the stereotype may say. This may give your husband-to-be a little more reassurance that this day is about him as well. There really must be a reason why we are told to add “something blue.”
