Wedding Gown Q & A With Lynette From Gallery By Lynette

Note:  This is the third of three interviews with three different wedding gown professionals in Utah including Danielle’s Bridal Salon, Modest Couture By Elizabeth and The Gallery By Lynette.  Each of them has great insight and knowledge about the wedding gown industry. You can read the first interview by clicking here.  You can read the second interview by clicking here.

We Met Lynette several months ago and were very impressed by her passion and knowledge of the wedding gown industry. Lynette Robinson Designer and co-owner with her husband, David is a third generation designer.  She has been serving northern Utah families for more than 30 years. If it can be done with fabric they can create it for you.  “Every gown, every tux, every item that passes through our store has my promise to you that we will do everything in our power to exceed your expectations.”

Who is your favorite bridal gown designer?  And why?? Of course my favorite designer is Lynette Robinson but not for the reasons you might assume.  When a bride to be or prom customer shops with The Gallery by Lynette we show them many beautiful gowns.  However, it often happens that she likes this about one gown and that about another.  We have two overseas factories that we deal with directly who will combine our ideas and create a one of a kind masterpiece for a very affordable price.  We find indescribable joy in the look on her face when she puts on the gown made for her, designed with her ideas and at a price that is surprisingly affordable.  We can also have her gown cut to her measurements and body type to minimize alterations.

I also love the design team at Maggie Sottero for creating such romantic and fashion forward styles.  Maggie Sottero also has Sottero and Midgley and Flirt Prom and have some of the best customer service in the industry.

What are the top dress styles & trends for 2011? The top design trends for us has been anything 3 dimensional, ruffle skirts and especially vertical treatments are strong, one shoulder details, and feather/flower embellishments.  Crystals, applique and  broaches  on gowns also.

We have also focused more on less expensive gowns this year too because we have so many shoppers who would love a beautiful gown but are on a tighter budget.

What wedding dress trends do you foresee in the future? I think gowns will have to be more simple if the tight economy continues.  I also think that we will begin to see more gowns made in the U.S. during the next 5 to 10 years.

What is the first question you ask a bride when they come in looking for a wedding dress? When and where is your wedding? And how do you envision yourself on your wedding day.

What advice do you have for brides when searching for a wedding gown?Start seriously shopping the minute you know you are getting married.  It can take up to 6 months if your gown must be ordered and unless you have found your dream dress hanging in a store in your size you might find that waiting too long may leave you with a dress that is memorable in a bad way.

You don’t need a ring to shop.

And go to www.replicagowns.blogspot.com before you even consider ordering a gown from the internet.  We are seeing far too many girls in our store at the last minute in tears because they ordered online and either didn’t get a dress at all and lost their money or they got the dress and it is a disaster.  Why would anyone risk the most important dress you would ever wear when there are so many warnings?  Testimonials are not always genuine. Just the difference between the real designer dress and the price online should tell you that something is wrong.  I do overseas production and can personally testify that it isn’t possible for anyone to make a wedding dress and ship it from China to the U.S. for a couple hundred dollars.   They are preying on your trust.
