How to Help Your Photographer Get Great Pictures
We want to thank Bethany from Moments to Remember for these tips on how to help your photographer get great pictures.
1. Invite the photographer to show up early and get candids of everyone getting ready.
2. For natural candids, don’t turn your back on the camera (even though it may be your first instinct.) The back of your head may not be what you have in mind.

3. During the ceremony, rather than focusing intently on the marriage officiator, like this shot here:
You could look lovingly into your fiancé’s eyes, or take a few glances back at your audience to get shots more like this:
4. Before the ceremony, discuss with your bride’s maids and groom’s men how they should be holding their hands during the ceremony. A uniform wedding line looks much better than everyone doing something different in the picture.
5. Walk slowly down the aisle. Fast shutter speeds may only be possible in the best of lighting conditions, and the lens may have a hard time focusing fast enough for a perfect shot if you’re zipping down the aisle.
6. During the reception, keep the room well lit. Dimming the lights may create a romantic atmosphere, but it often makes for dark, grainy or blurry pictures.
7. Choose a friend or family member who can help guide people into place for the group shots. The photographer most likely doesn’t know who’s supposed to be in which shot, and it will save the bride or groom from having to round everyone up for pictures.
8. Make sure you have fun. Real smiles are what we look forward to.
