Registry Alternatives
The traditional registry for a bride and groom is through a department store, like Macy’s; but times and trends are changing to keep up with couple’s ever changing lifestyles.
Here are a few alternative gift registries:
- Green gift registry from New American Dream: they cater to brides and grooms who want to encourage environmentally friendly gifts that deemphasize materialism and focus on the celebration rather than the gifts.
- Charity wedding registry from JustGive.org: this site offers a unique gift of a charitable donation to their favorite charities instead of traditional wedding gifts. Brides and grooms can choose from 1 million different charities.
- Big-ticket wedding registry from greenwish.com: here you can tactfully ask for big-ticket items, like a car, without bluntly asking for money.
- Honeymoon registry from HoneymoonWishes.com: here you can register for your entire honeymoon, including dinner, activities and spa treatments. Your wedding guests can contribute to an outing, pay for your dinner, or buy you each a massage, and they can give you as much or as little as they want.
- Rent or home down payment registry: several financial institutions offer a wedding registry where gift givers can donate toward a down payment on a home or toward you rent payments.
- Multiple wedding registries: go ahead and register at more than one place. The selection will give your guests more to choose from and you will also be able to find items that may not be available at one store. Many places are beginning to offer wedding registries; look around, maybe you’ll find something unique that you’ve been searching for.
Where are so many options out there now; have fun and look around with your groom to find which wedding registry will be ideal for you both.
