I read a blog posting by Retrospect Studios recently about wearing matching clothing for your photography session.  We also had a feature in our newsletter a few months back about engagment photography tips that discussed this same thing.

I have seen a lot of engagement photos and would have to say – wearing matching outfits is cheesy.  My favorite engagement shots are those that look unplanned – as if the two of your are completely in-love and in your natural environment.

Comfort

You want to wear something you both feel comfortable in.  This is especially important for guys.  A lot of guys don’t love to get their pictures taken.  If you dress up your fiance in something he is not comfortable in, this will definitely make the engagement session more unfomfortable.

Plan Ahead

Planning a wedding is a busy time.  It can be easy to forget the little details.  In the excitement for preparing for your engagment session (which is usually one of your first big wedding events), you might neglect to plan what you will wear in advance. Photo tip: Make sure your clothing choices don’t clash and avoid busy patterns.

Be You

Make a great first impression. Your engagement photos are a great way to set the mood of your wedding and introduce the two of you to your wedding guests.
